For many parents, I’m sure the idea of taking your two or three-year-old skiing with you might seem down right ludicrous. But I can tell you from experience that its definitely worth the effort. So take my advice, give it a try! Here are a few reasons why:
5) It’s cheaper than daycare.
Don’t miss out on a huge discount! Kids five and under ski free at almost every resort I can think of. So, pack a lunch a lunch and bring to kids along skiing for absolutely nothing! If your kids are older, don’t worry, because deals are still to be had. For instance, at Keystone Resort, children 12 and under ski free when you also buy lodging.
4) Spend quality time with your family.
Everybody knows that kids grow up fast and skiing is a great way to spend time with them. Besides becoming great skiers, it also provides you a great opportunity to teach them other lessons like the importance of listening to mom and dad, the need to be patient and take turns in the lift lines, how to encourage each other to keep trying even if they fall down and so much more. I’ve also noticed first-hand how much more confident my son has become after conquering certain milestones on the hill.
3) Exercise will tire them out.
My kids can get absolutely nutty if leave them inside the house for too long. Think about it this way, would you rather be at the ski hill (where they can’t cause as much damage) or stuck home cleaning up after all the mess they’re bound to make? Besides that, skiing is great exercise which helps your kids build muscle and gain balance.
2) You still get to go skiing
I admit, the first few times are going to be rough. Teaching your kids to ski yourself means you won’t get to ski much on your own, but all that effort eventually pays off. But if your kids are old enough for lessons, I strongly recommend taking them at least some of the time. With the kids in lessons, parents get almost a whole day to themselves—how long as it been since that happened?
1) It’s Beats Watching Another Episode of “Paw Patrol”
If they’re outside having fun, they’re not whining to watch tv or play on a tablet. That’s got to be a win on anybody’s list.
